President Pranab Mukherjee Inaugurates Smart Model Village Pilot Project
As a next step in transforming India, president unveiled a new scheme called SMART MODEL VILLAGE PILOT PROJECT.
The core areas which are going to get transformed through this scheme are :-
♦ Farming
♦ Construction
♦ Electricity
♦ Health care
♦ Water resources
♦ Manufacturing
♦ Provision retailing
♦ Logistics
Being a pilot project it is now introduced in five village panchayats of Haryana. they are listed as follows:-
♦ DHAULA, ALIPUR, HARICHANDPUR, AND TAJ NAGAR IN GURAGON DISTRICT
♦ ROJKA MEO IN MEWAT DISTRICT OF HARYANA.

India inks Rs 262-crore deal with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems
i. Indian Government signed a deal with Thyssennkrupp marine systems, Germany on june 30,2016 in Mumbai.
ii. In order To retrofit the anti-ship American Harpoon Missiles (AHM) on two shishumar class submarines namely INS SHANKUSH and INS SHALKI at NAVAL DOCKYARD, MUMBAI.
iii. AHM’s were bought from America in 2014 for $200 Million in order to enhance India’s defense capability.
iv. Thyssennkkrupp Marine System Company is Operating from GERMANY.
v. It is Specialized in Shipbuilding and Founded in 2005.
vi. Indian Branch MD Gurnad Sodi is the Managing Director for ThayyssennKkrup is the leading ship building company in our country.

Haryana to develop new industrial township in Gurgaon district at $ 5 billion
i. Haryana Governemnt set up a board for Developing new industrial township in Guragon District of Haryana on JULY 3RD, 2016.
ii. Government of Haryana signed a MoU With China Fortune Land Development (CFLD) company for $5 Billion fund assistance for setting up this township.
iii. The agreement was signed by Haryana Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) Managing Director Sudhir Rajpal and China Fortune Land Development Company President Jerry Zhao.
iv. The Chinese firm would develop infrastructural facilities, industrial units and residential and commercial projects in the township. Industrial units related to automobiles and electronics would be established in this township.
v. The ultimate purpose is for Employment generation, Creating State-of-the-art Health and Education Facilities.
vi. It is spreaded to a vast area of about 1500 acres in Sohna and Manesar Areas of Guragon district of Haryana.

Justin Trudeau first Canadian PM to march in Toronto Pride
i. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau created history by marching with tens of Toronto Pride Paradethousands of people in Toronto’s Gay Pride parade, becoming the nation’s first sitting prime minister to participate.
ii. The youthful politician observed a minute of silence to pay respect to the victims of the June 12 nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida that left 49 dead.
iii. Trudeau also marched in the annual parade earlier as head of the Liberal Party, then the opposition leader facing former president Stephen Harper’s conservative government.

BANKING AND FINANCE

Govt allows state-run general insurers to sell PM’s crop insurance schemes
i. Government of India made a pact of Allowing four Public Sector Insurers in PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) on July 3rd ,2016.
ii. Along with the existing 11 private sector Insurers now Government allowed Four PSU’s namely LIC(life Insurance Corporation of India), General Insurance Corporation of India, National Insurance Co. ltd, Oriental Insurance Co. ltd. to increase the agricultural insurance cover to a great extent.
iii. The Government aims to achieve a huge potential of $2.5 Billion insurance premium collection in the upcoming agricultural practice seasons.
iv. The PMFBY has replaced the existing two crop insurance schemes — the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and the Modified NAIS.
v. For Kharif(June to October) crops, the premium charged would be up to 2 per cent of the sum insured, while for Rabi(October to march_ crops, the premium will be up to 1.5 per cent.

APPOINTMENTS

New chiefs appointed for FICCI Telangana, AP councils
i. Industry Body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI) has appointed new Chairpersons for its Telangana and AP State Councils.
ii. Upon this string of appointments for Telengana state Devendra Surana (MD, Bhagyanagar India Ltd)has been named as the chairman and for Andra Pradesh state M. Prabhakar Rao(CMD, NSL Group) will be the Chairman, FICCI Andhra Pradesh State Council.
iii. The current chairperson Sangita Reddy, Jt Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, who looked after both the Telugu states is on completion of her tenure.
iv. In Telangana, the industry body will focus on information technology, manufacturing & engineering, renewable energy, MSME, infrastructure, however in Andhra Pradesh the body will focus on agriculture & food processing, pharmaceuticals, logistics & warehousing, and defence areas.

Sri Lanka appoints Indrajith Coomaraswamy as new central bank chief
Indrajit Kumarasawamyi. Sri Lankan Government has appointed a New Governor to its central bank – CBSL ( Central Bank of Sri Lanka).
ii. Indrajith coomaraswamy, Former director in commonwealth Secretariat, London has been appointed as the new Governor of CBSL on July 1,2016.
iii. The reason attributed for the new appointment is that the Previous Governor has been accused of leaking Government’s confident information to his relatives.
ABOUT CBSL:
♦ It is established in 1950. Central Bank’s Currency –  Sri Lankan Rupee. It is solely responsible for framing monetary policy and supervising financial system.
♦ Sri Lanka’s economy is under stress now and the country recently received a huge sum of $1.5 trillion from IMF (INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND) as a tranche.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

World biggest and sensitive radio telescope “FAST” completed in China!
i. World’s largest and sensitive radio telescope, FAST (Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope) Has been installed in Pingtang county, South west China. The final Installation finished on 3rd july,2016.
ii. As the name indicates, it will have a diameter of 500 metres.
iii. FAST will have an effective dish size of 300 m and is capable of covering the sky within ±40° from the zenith.
iv. The telescope was proposed in 1994 and the construction is started in 2011.
v. The purpose of this telescope is to study and explore the space and also to explore about the extraterrestrial life – Aliens.
vi. It costs around $180 Million to the China government to built this exploring radio telescope.

LEWIS STRIKES AGAIN! – AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX TITLE
i. Ace British Formula One Racer LEWIS HAMILTON has bagged the famous AUSTRIANaustr GRAND PRIX TITLE 2016 by defeating NICO ROSBERG and MAX VESTEREPPAN on 3rd July held in Red Bull Rings, in Styrian mountains of Austria.
ii. Lewis Hamilton collided with Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg on the last lap before passing him to win a thrilling Austrian Grand Prix.
iii. It is noted that the Mercedes mate Nico Rosberg also bagged the Famous European Grand Prix 2016 title on June 19.

Sports Ministry Announces Rs 10 Lakh Grant for Mohammed Shahid
i. The Union Sports minister Dr Jitendra Singh announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for sickly Olympic gold medallist Mohammed Shahid, who is undergoing treatment for serious liver and kidney ailment at Medanta Medicity in Gurgaon.
ii. Presently Shahid’s medical expenses are being taken care by his employers Indian Railways.
iii. He is well known for his artistic stickwork, Shahid was a member of the V Baskaran headed Indian team that won its last gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
Jitendra Singh:
♦ Jitendra Singh is Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space.Who also holds Sports Ministry.
♦ Jitendra Singh won the Udhampur seat in Indian general election, 2014 for the 16th Lok Sabha.
