1. Rebellion – विद्रोह

Meaning – an act of armed resistance to an established government or leader.

Synonyms – uprising, revolt, insurrection, mutiny, revolution, insurgence, insurgency, rising, rioting, riot; civil disobedience, civil disorder, unrest, anarchy, fighting in the streets; coup, regime change; coup d’état, jacquerie; putsch.

Usage – the authorities put down a rebellion by landless colonials.

2. Inception – आरंभ

Meaning – the establishment or starting point of an institution or activity.

Synonyms – establishment, institution, foundation, founding, formation, initiation, setting up, origination, constitution, inauguration, opening; beginning, start, starting point, outset; birth, dawn, genesis, origin, rise; debut, day one; informalkick-off; formalcommencement.

Usage – she has been on the board since its inception two years ago.

3. Awestruck – अवाक् हो उठे

Meaning – filled with or revealing awe.

Synonyms – awed, filled with wonder, filled with awe, wonderstruck, amazed, filled with amazement, astonished, filled with astonishment, lost for words, open-mouthed; reverential; terrified, afraid, fearful.

Usage – “people were awestruck by the pictures sent back to earth.

4. Uptick – इजाफा

Meaning – a small increase or slight upward trend.

Usage – an uptick in foreign tourism.

5. Juxtaposition – मुक़ाबला

Meaning – the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.

Synonyms – comparison, contrast; proximity, nearness, closeness; collocation, colligation; rarecontiguity.

Usage – the juxtaposition of these two images.

6. Commuting – आने

Meaning – travel some distance between one’s home and place of work on a regular basis.

Synonyms – travel to and from work, travel to and fro, travel back and forth, come and go, shuttle.

Usage – he commuted from Corby to Kentish Town.

7. Skewed – विषम

Meaning – suddenly change direction or position.

Usage – the car had skewed across the track.

8. Jugglery – इंद्रजाल

Meaning – manipulation or trickery especially to achieve a desired end.

9. Aghast – भौचक्का

Meaning – filled with horror or shock.

Synonyms – horrified, appalled, astounded, amazed, dismayed, thunderstruck, stunned, shocked, shell-shocked, in shock, flabbergasted, staggered, taken aback, speechless, awestruck, open-mouthed, wide-eyed.

Usage – she winced, aghast at his cruelty.

10. Carnage – नरसंहार

Meaning – the killing of a large number of people.

Synonyms – slaughter, massacre, mass murder, mass destruction, butchery, bloodbath, indiscriminate bloodshed, bloodletting, annihilation, destruction, decimation, havoc; holocaust, pogrom, ethnic cleansing; informalshambles.

Usage – the bombing was timed to cause as much carnage as possible.
