1. Recluse – वैरागी

Meaning – a person who lives a solitary life and tends to avoid other people.

Synonyms – hermit, ascetic; monk, nun; marabout, santon; rareeremite, anchorite, anchoress, stylite, cenobite.

Usage – she has turned into a virtual recluse.

2. Stern – कठोर

Meaning – (of a person or their manner) serious and unrelenting, especially in the assertion of authority and exercise of discipline.

Synonyms – serious, unsmiling, frowning, poker-faced, severe, forbidding, grim, unfriendly, sombre, grave, sober, austere, dour, stony, flinty, steely, unrelenting, unyielding, unforgiving, unbending, unsympathetic, disapproving; rareRhadamanthine; informalboot-faced.

3. Glean – बीनना

Meaning – obtain (information) from various sources, often with difficulty.

Synonyms – obtain, get, take, draw, derive, extract, cull, garner, gather, reap; select, choose, pick; learn.

Usage – the information is gleaned from press cuttings.

4. Strive – प्रयास करते हैं

Meaning – make great efforts to achieve or obtain something.

Usage – national movements were striving for independence.

5. Spur – प्रेरणा

Meaning – a thing that prompts or encourages someone; an incentive.

Synonyms – stimulus, incentive, encouragement, stimulant, stimulation, inducement, impetus, prod, prompt; incitement, goad; fillip; motive, motivation.

Usage – wars act as a spur to practical invention.

6. Elongate – लम्बी

Meaning – make (something) longer, especially unusually so in relation to its width.

Synonyms – lengthen, stretch out, make longer, extend, broaden, widen, enlarge.

Usage – a slender, elongated neck.

7. Addle – सड़ा

Meaning – make (someone) unable to think clearly; confuse.

Synonyms – muddled, confused, fuddled, befuddled, bewildered, dazed, dizzy, disoriented, disorientated, stupefied, unbalanced, unhinged, demented, deranged; informaldiscombobulated, woolly, muzzy, woozy, dopey.

8. Hedge – बाड़ा

Meaning – a fence or boundary formed by closely growing bushes or shrubs.

Synonyms – hedgerow, row of bushes, fence; windbreak, barrier, barricade, boundary; quickset.

Usage – a privet hedge.

9. Deed – कर्म

Meaning – an action that is performed intentionally or consciously.

Synonyms – act, action, activity; feat, exploit, performance, achievement, accomplishment, attainment, endeavour, effort; undertaking, enterprise.

Usage – doing good deeds.

10. Decry – दोष देना

Meaning – publicly denounce.

Synonyms – denounce, condemn, criticize, censure, damn, attack, fulminate against, rail against, inveigh against, blame, carp at, cavil at, run down, pillory, rap, lambaste, deplore, disapprove of, vilify, execrate, revile; disparage, deprecate.

Usage – they decried human rights abuses.
