Govt launches “Kaushal Yuva Samwaad” to interact with youth and get their perspective on skill development

On July 15, 2019, To commemorate World Youth Skills Day (July 15) and celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the Skill India Mission, the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE) launched ‘Kaushal Yuva Samwaad’ (A Youth Dialogue) in New Delhi.Kaushal Yuva Samwaad

Key points:
i.About Kaushal Yuva Samwaad:

  • Aim: It aimed at creating an open dialogue with youth across all skill training centres to hear their views, ideas, opportunities, and recommendations help the Ministry of Skill Development scaling up existing programs and improve the overall efficiency of the on-going projects.
  • Features:  The platform discusses potential issues and solutions from the candidates’ perspective. It also gives MoSDE perspective to match aspirations of youth with offerings of Skill India.
  • Participating Centres: It was organized across all Skill India training centres, namely, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras, Industrial Training Institutes, Polytechnics, and other fee-based training centres across the country.
  • Kaushal Pakhwada: The ministry also launched a 15-day campaign from July 16, under which sessions and workshops will be conducted across the country to aspire young trainees under the Skill India Mission.

ii. Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman was the chief guest of the launching event. Many ministers including Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ramesh Pokhriyal, Mahendra Nath Pandey were also attended the event.
iii. Partakers:  The event saw the introduction of 48-member contingent that will be representing India at WorldSkills International Competition, to be held from August 22 – 28 in Kazan, Russia.
iv. Launch: The event also witnessed the launch of vocational education program, “Degree Apprenticeship Programin” designed by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Ministry of Human Resources & Development (MHRD).
