Indian Monuments and Sites Nominated for UNESCO Heritage sites

In 2021, The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which is responsible for the protection and preservation of Indian monuments, has proposed nine sites for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s tentative lists.

In May 2021, the Ministry of Culture announced that six new Indian Sites namely, Satpura Tiger Reserve (Madhya Pradesh); Iconic Riverfront of the Historic City of Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh); Maratha Military Architecture in Maharashtra; Bhedaghat-Lametaghat in Narmada Valley (Madhya Pradesh); and Temples of Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) were selected in the Tentative lists of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As of 2021, Tentative lists of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains 46 monuments and sites.
