Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 3 nation Visit to Indonesia , Malaysia and Singapore.PM Indonesia Visit (May 29-31,2018)

Indonesia, India to develop strategic Indian Ocean port
On May 30,2018 , India and Indonesia has signed to develop strategic Indian Ocean Port.
Key points of the MOU:
i. To set up defence and maritime cooperation.
ii. Developing infrastructure and and economic zone at Sabang, in Sumatra and Malacca Straight for global trade. This move is under Modi’s Act East policy .
iii. The two nations also signed pacts on cooperation in pharmaceuticals and technology industries.

CII, Tata inks agreement with Indonesia to deepen business ties
On May 29,2018, Indian company TATA and CII inks pact with Indonesian company.
i. TATA and PT Pindad in Indonesia has signed the MOU to collaborate for the supply of TATA trucks in Indonesia for defence related equipments.
ii. Under G2G and G2B , Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced the launch of its first overseas office in Jakarta, Indonesia.
iii. MOU between PT Pindad and Bhukanvala in the area of infrastructure and defence .
iv. PM Modi to attend India-Indonesia CEO Forum.

CII, Indonesia’s KADIN ink agreement to promote economic cooperation
On May 30,2018, CII and KADIN inks pact .
i. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) signs MOU with KADIN to promote bilateral economic , trade and technological cooperation.
ii. They will promote technological cooperation, exchange of information and visits on economic and commercial cooperation, support activities for trade promotion.
iii. MOU between Himalaya Drug Company and PT Kalbe Farma for a joint venture

15 MoUs signed between India and Indonesia
On May 30,2018 , India  and Indonesia signed 15 MOUs .
i. The 15 MOUs were in various fields including, defence, space technology, scientific and technological cooperation, railways, health, medicine, public administration and interaction between think tanks.
ii. Mou between Kite Museum in Ahmedabad and Layang Layang Gujrat to promote kite designing.
iii. Archaeological Survey of India and Indonesia’s PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko for beautifying world cultural heritage of Parambanan Temple and Taj Mahal.
iv. MOU on scholarship to facilitate study and research with IIIT, Bengaluru.
v. PM Modi layed  a wreath at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery.

India, Indonesia to set up task force to enhance connectivity between Andaman and Sabang
On May 30,2018, India an Indonesia set up a task force to enhance connectivity between Andaman and Sabang.
i. This would promote trade , tourism , people- to –people contact.
ii. This would facilitate business growth and economic cooperation.
iii. Also this task force would ensure security and stability in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.

Malaysia Visit (May 31,2018)

On May 31,2018, PM Modi met his Malaysian counterpart 92 year old Mahathir Mohammad.
The Two leaders discussed about the various economic and cultural relations .

Singapore Visit (May 31-June 2,2018)

PM Modi visits Innovation exhibition in Singapore
On May 31,2018, PM Modi visited the  Innovation exhibition in Singapore.
i. The India- Singapore Enterprise and Innovation Exhibitions at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre . This showcased new technologies such as AI, fintech and innovation for social impact.
ii. This exhibition has been done by Indian and Singaporean companies.

PM Narendra Modi launches RuPay card, BHIM and SBI apps in Singapore
On May 31, 2018, Modi launched three Indian payment apps in Singapore.
i. These apps were Rupay Card, BHIM app and SBI app.
ii. These were launched in ‘Business, Innovation and Community Event’.
iii. This would be beneficial for Indian blue collar workers as they can transfer money  as remittance upto Rs. 10000 with this.

India, Singapore ink 14 MoU
On May 31,2018, India and Singapore inked 14 MOUs.
i. A total of 14 Mous were inked in a business cum community event called ‘Anushasanam’.
ii. These are B2B and B2G pacts.
iii. Tata Education and Development Trust and ITE Education Services SingaporeTata Education and Development Trust and ITE Education Services Singapore.
iv. Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and Singapore Business Federation (SBF).
v. National Skill Development Center of India (NSDC) and National University of Singapore was launched to focus on developing skills in future.
vi. NSDC, Singapore Polytechnic, and Temasek Foundation International to establish trainer and assessor academies in India.
vii. SynchroServe Global Solutions and Skills SG venture for skill training.
viii. CII and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) signed a MoU for wastewater management and recycling.
ix. CII signed another MoU with Singapore Business Federation on creating family business networks and training family businesses.
x. NITI Aayog and Pan IIM Alumni Association (PIIMA), IIT Alumni Association of Singapore (IITAAS), The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE), Data Security Council of India (DSCI) , and The Indian School of Business Alumni Association – Singapore Chapter (ISBAA) to support India’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem on supporting India’s innovation and entrepreneurship and promoting India’s efforts towards innovation abroad.
xi. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Food Industry Asia (FIA) for cooperation in food processing, safety, and capacity-building.

India to soon start tri-lateral exercise with Singapore: PM Modi
On June 1,2018, India will launch a tri-lateral exercise with Singapore .
i. It will be done for peace , security and humanitarian assistance .
ii. India and Singapore have signed implementation agreement between their navies concerning mutual coordination, logistics and services support for naval ships’, submarines and naval aircraft.

Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual security meet
i. On June 2, 2018, the PM of India would address the Shangri-La Dialogue which is an annual security meet among 28 Asia –Pacific states . They include Australia,  Brunei,  Burma(Myanmar), Cambodia, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, NewZealand, Pakistan, China, Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, East Timor, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
ii. In the 2018 Dialogue the IISS convened the 17th Asia Security Summit: The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, from 1-3 June 2018 in Singapore.

PM Modi gives Padma Shri award to former Singaporean diplomat
On June 1,2018, PM modi gave Padma Shri award to former Singaporean Diplomat.
i. This was given to Mr. Tommy koh. The Padma Shri is India’s highest civilian award .
ii. Koh was among 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) receipients of the prestigious award..

An orchid was named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate his visit to the National Orchid Garden of Singapore.
On June 2, 2018, an orchid was named after PM Modi.
i. To mark his visit to the National Orchid Garden of Singapore.
ii. The tropical, which produces upright inflorences up to 38 cm long, has been named Dendrobrium Narendra Modi. It is of dark purple color.

PM Modi unveils Mahatma Gandhi plaque at Clifford Pier in Singapore
On June 2, 2018, PM Modi unveils Mahatma Gandhi plaque at Clifford Pier in Singapore.
i. He along with former Singapore PM Goh Chok Tong visited the Clifford Pier.
ii. To commemorate the immersion of Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes in the country’s waterswhich were sent to Singapore around 1948.
